George H. Bell papers 1913-1928

George H. Bell (1878-1965) was a real estate agent in New York City who served as commissioner of licenses from 1914 to 1918 during the administration of Mayor John Purroy Mitchel. Collection consists of correspondence, photographs and memorabilia concerning Bell's service as commissioner of licenses. Papers include an album of photographs depicting the mayoral campaign of 1913, portraits of Bell and others, and memorabilia such as campaign pamphlets, invitations and clippings.
